FAQ – Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment which uses a scalpel to very gently exfoliate dead skin cells and fine hair (peach fuzz). It is great for brightening and smoothing the skin, and reduces the appearance of texture irregularities like fine lines. It is a great companion treatment to HydraFacials and Chemical Peels, but can also be done as a standalone treatment.
Am I a good candidate?
Ideal candidates have aging, rough, dry skin or uneven skin tone. Dermaplaning can also improve the appearance of shallow acne scars, fine lines, and discoloration. Patients with active acne are not good candidates for this treatment; but we can definitely work around a small breakout or two.
What areas can be treated?
Face is the recommended treatment area for Dermaplaning.
What does the treatment feel like?
Dermaplaning is completely painless. Patients just feel gentle pressure.
Who performs this treatment?
All Dermaplaning treatments are performed by one of our well-trained skincare professionals. They are extensively trained before performing our treatments and are overseen by Dr. Ricks.
Are there any side effects? Is there any downtime?
This treatment is extremely safe; it is no riskier than shaving your legs. There is also no downtime!
When will I see results?
After a Dermaplaning treatment, your skin will feel smoother and look brighter right away. Most patients notice that their makeup looks better because they get a smoother application after this treatment. Skincare products will penetrate more deeply into the skin after a Dermaplaning treatment because we will have removed a layer of dead skin.
How much does it cost?
Dermaplaning is $60 if done by itself in a mini-facial, or $40 when added to a Chemical Peel or HydraFacial.
